We loved the location of this property. Close to everything and in a fabulous neighborhood! Although located in the back of the primary house on the property, it felt very private and separate. We even enjoyed the lovely courtyard patio space and BBQ grill one evening!
We love this wonderful cottage in Brentwood. It is close to shops and restaurants and has a lovely, enclosed patio for enjoying a cup of coffee on a beautiful California morning. The owner is responsive and very helpful. We truly enjoyed our stay, and we hope to return.
We just returned from staying at this property. We really liked it. It had everything we needed; location, size and ease of entry. It also had lots of other amenities that we did not take advantage of such as the fully equipped kitchen. The host was very thorough with direction to the cottage, internet etc. Parking was easy. It is really a lovely home that is well maintained. There was a fan in the living room that was on when we arrived. It was very loud. We turned it off and only needed it for a short time on one of the days. We had a window air-conditioner in the master bedroom. That made the room a perfect temperature. But, we did learn that it was super loud and blowing right on our faces. We tried to turn it off, but couldn't. It also didn't cool the rest of the house. Our sons opened their window in the other bedroom and the breeze was lovely. There was a minor issue with the cottage that we alerted the owner of right away. We helped as best we could. She'll probably address it now that we've left. Certainly did not damper our stay. The minimum stay was more than we needed. But, the price was terrific and hit all of our "must haves". So we didn't mind paying for a night we weren't going to use. We hope to stay here again when we are back in the area. We will definitely be staying longer. We felt very comfortable here.
Owner Response
I'm so glad this family enjoyed the cottage and am so sorry for any issues with the air cooling. Since their stay, we have changed out the window AC unit and installed a new, much better one in a window away from the bed. We also installed a new unit in the 2nd bedroom. This was an unusually hot Aug but will be prepared next heat wave.
We had such a fantastic time in L.A. and staying in this beautiful cottage just made it! It is in the perfect place to access Santa Monica, Venice, Malibu as well as really easy to get all the L.A. attractions. The cottage is in a beautiful quiet street with lots of parking. It is absolutely spotless and the beds were so comfortable. It had plenty room for 4 adults with great Wi-Fi and tv channels. We loved using the bbq and the outside space. We really hope we will be back one day!
Great stay in a beautiful and quiet neighbourhood. Easy access by car to all the main attractions but we also caught the bus to Santa Monica beach. Bed was extremely comfortable and parking was easy. The streets here are so wide that even with a big car it wasn’t an issue. Would highly recommend to anyone who prefers to rent rather than stay in a hotel.
I would stay at this property again. It was a great location and was very nice. It was unseasonably warm when we stayed and the one window unit had a hard time keeping the place cool during the day. Other than that, it was wonderful!
This is a nice apartment over a garage, facing down into a cute courtyard. It is very private but does back onto an alley way and is in an aging structure. I stayed there for four days on a business trip. It was very hot that week and the only a/c was in the master bedroom, but the manager supplied fans. It is extremely clean with nice appliances in the kitchen. Very quiet and in a beautiful, centrally located area of LA. Perfect for what I needed!
Wir hatten das Gefühl von einem Zuhause. Stilvoll eingerichtet, mit allem, was ein angenehmer Wohnraum zu bieten hat. Ausruhoase mit kleinem Vorgarten, in dem die Kolibris summen.
We were overall very happy with our stay. The cottage was more spacious than we were expecting from the pictures. It was very comfortable and pleasant for three adults and one child. The outside space was awesome, and we enjoyed hanging out outside while we had family chats. Location is great, very central to Brentwood, UCLA, Santa Monica, Venice. We only had one negative comment for the stay; other reviews that said the back alley was loud were not wrong. Multiple times during the night cars pulled in or out of the spaces below the apartment, or into a nearby parking space, or just drove by the apartment and it was loud enough to wake me up. We had windows open the first night but closed the rest of the week, and we could still hear all the traffic through the alley at night. None of it ruined our experience, but if you are a light sleeper, you'll notice the noise. If you sleep well, or are used to city living, it shouldn't bother you. The bed was super comfy!
We have stayed twice at the owners cottages in Santa Monica and we loved it. This time we were travelling with out 2.5yrs old daughter and the apartment in Brentwood was perfect. It is exactly as described. Roomy, clean, very well decorated and in a very convient location. We loved the outdoor sitting area, the kitchen/breakfast/dinner nook and the very comfy living room. Parking was never a problem on Gorham Ave.. Yes, the garage doors downstairs are a bit noisy but it never really bothered us. It´s a big city after all. We would definitely coming back. Evelyn is a very professional host and responds very fast. This is the third time we were staying at her rentals and it was always a pleasure.
This is a great cottage apartment over a garage with it's own patio. We were visiting family in the area so we could get to everything easily and our family could have dinner and hang out at our place also. It's quiet and clean. You can easily walk to food, the farm market and groceries. We would definitely go back!
The cottage is in a cute, quiet neighborhood in a central location for getting around LA. It was very comfortable for our family of four. We had one minor issue with the shower and it was resolved immediately, thanks to our helpful and responsive host. We would definitely stay there again and would recommend it our our friends.
This little "cottage" was perfect for our recent stay in the Santa Monica area and was exactly as described. It was quiet and cozy--and very roomy. The kitchen was well appointed, and we made good use of all the appliances to either cook meals from scratch or heat up grab-and-go food. We appreciated the easy-to-use laundry. On-street parking was incredibly easy, and the short walk to the apartment from the main street was easy and completely safe even at night. The property is on the second floor, but the stairs proved no problem at all for us, a couple in our sixties. We enjoyed many walks around the neighborhood and took advantage of area businesses, via car or foot. The manager of the property was immediately responsive and quickly handled one extremely minor issue that almost didn't require attention. If staying in the area again, we would definitely return to this property!
The cottage apartment was very comfortable and spacious! Just what we needed! The rooms were very airy and beds and linens were very clean and cozy, we slept well. The kitchen and laundry were welcome and helped make the trip more enjoyable so we could take a night off and enjoy some homemade food and wash up our laundry from the week of travel while we watched a family movie and enjoyed some downtime in comfort. The location was within walking distance to the Sunday farmers market which has some very nice vendors with various samples, reasonable prices and something for everyone!!! Overall it was a great stay!
Certainly enjoyed your place. Wonderful walking and everything close. We enjoyed a cozy stay, particularly on a rainy day. Was happy to see some eco friendly products but some still around. that are not positive for a chemically sensitive person. Thank you for your hospitality and consideration.
We've stayed here several times and always enjoy ourselves. Evelyn (the owner) is incredibly responsive to questions or .concerns and answers within minutes to any text. It's just minutes walking away from the Brentwood mart and other restaurants and stores. Just 10-15 minutes drive to Santa Monica, Pacific Palisades and Malibu and a 20 minute drive into Beverly Hills and West Hollywood. Perfect location.
Exactly as advertised. Only thing to keep it from five stars is upstairs and alley entrance. Very quite and private. Parking is a few hundred feet away but not really a problem. Washer and Dryer came in very handy for our nine day stay. We only ate our evening meal at the cottage and the gas grill was very adequate. William, Texas
My wife, two children, and I also spent a week in Brentwood, Los Angeles on our more than four-week tour of the western United States in the summer of 2017. The house was as described and watch in the pictures. It is located in a quiet side street. Parking available. There was enough space in the house for 4 people. Equipment is completely sufficient, you have everything you need for your daily needs. Furthermore, the house was very central for us. We were able to make trips to the coast (Santa Monica, Venice and Malibu Beach) from here but also fast to Beverly Hills, Hollywood / Hollywood Sign and drive to Los Angeles. Furthermore, there are enough supermarkets and many attractions in the surrounding area.+ The contact with Evelyn K. was great, everything went smoothly, thank you very much. Should we be in the area again, I would not hesitate to rent this house again. We can only recommend the house.
I loved this apartment. It is just as pictured and located in a lovely neighborhood close to shopping and restaurants. The Santa Monica/Brentwood address made it convenient to access the Pacific Coast Highway, Getty Center, UCLA, and beaches. Close access to the 405, Wilshire Blvd, Santa Monica Blvd. and the 10. GPS will get you anywhere you want to go. Only caveat is that the apartment is only accessible via an outdoor stairway, so if you have mobility problems, this is probably not the place for you.
This vacation rental is very comfortable. The bed was very cozy and I slept well, but the apartment is on an alley that serves many homes. Garbage day is especially noisy and the garage door is loud when opening and closing. It seemed like every home had a gardener with a leaf blower at 8 am too. Plus you can hear conversations from next door, the unit below and the alley. So I’m sure all of my conversations were overheard too. 😕 The parking is on the street and about three lots down the alley-bring a flash light at night to avoid twisting an ankle on the uneven pavement. I wish the backdoor had a deadbolt to feel safe at night. The housekeeper came in without knocking twice and scared me to death. I blocked the back door with a chair every night. I stayed for three weeks and if I hadn’t asked there would be no housekeeper visit to replace paper products, dishwasher soap etc. plus washing towels and linens. Hmm. Also the stairs from the alley are very steep and narrow, go through the gate and use the stairs off the courtyard to bring luggage up and down. The tv and roku were great as was the fireplace to warm up the room in a hurry. The kitchen was stocked with plenty of equipment to fix a meal. The upholstery is worn but it is a vacation property. Overall I enjoyed my stay but will look for something more peaceful for future visits to LA.
Owner Response
I'm so sorry for the noise issues although I have rarely had other complaints. As an apology for the entry of my housekeeper, I provided a free mid cleaning. Guest says it's 3 lots down the alley, actually its the 3rd house in and a very short walk, worth it with the ample parking. I listen to my guests and take any concerns to heart trying to make their stay perfect but unfortunately some expectations are not anticipated. I'm replacing the security light with a brighter one and will installing a deadbolt. Thanks Deed, for your comments and the opportunity to make my property safer.
We spent New Year's 2018 at the cottage. We needed a place a short distance from Sepulveda and Sunset and wanted the flexibility of entertaining other members of our family for dinner. We also were not sure who would join us at the time we made the reservation so were delighted to have the flexibility of two bedrooms, one with twin beds. Having just finished a cruise, we also enjoyed having a kitchen and laundry facilities. The owner was very responsive and provided all the details so you could live like a local in this neighborhood of Los Angeles. I would definitely recommend this rental.
We loved this property! It had everything we needed and was a great location for santa monica and los angeles. Looks exactly like the photos and Evelyn could not be nicer. Very quick response to email contact. We accidentally left an entire piece of luggage backpack and coat which we needed on our trip to northern california and evelyn has arranged to have it sent by fedex to our next location in lake tahoe!!! Totally above and beyond and really understanding considering we were freaking out leaving our things behind. She has put our mind at ease and arranged everything for us and she wasnt even in california! We would stay here again in a heartbeat! Thank you evelyn for everything!
Everything worked out great for us -- this cottage is just as nice in person as in the photos (which isn't always true). We'd definitely stay again if we came back to Santa Monica.
Last minute stay to watch the US Amateur golf tournament at Riviera CC. Location was amazing, the place was beautiful and the beds were comfortable. Quiet neighborhood, easy parking in LA! I'd stay here again anytime.
Could have stayed all year! The apartment is close to an amazing farmers market and was a great retreat from a day off running around LA. Great location to take long walks or to jog around the park. Parking was also easy even though it was Street parking. Thank you!
We spent a week at this Santa Monica cottage. It was everything one could ask for in a rental. Nicely appointed living room, dining area and bedrooms. Comfy mattresses, pillows (some down & feathers) and high-quality cotton sheeting. In addition, there is a washer and dryer in the laundry room, which we used during our week's stay. While it's important to note that this unit is on the second floor with rather steep steps, it does get a nice breeze, because of this. There is also a nice, private patio area at the rear, with a new gas grill, which we also used and enjoyed. The kitchen, while nicely stocked, is missing a few 'essential' items for foodies, like me, i.e. a garlic press, stainless mixing bowls (for omelets, et al) and another one or two cutting boards for prep work. It would also be nice to have some 'basics' in the cabinet: salt, olive oil, etc. IF the above were included, my review would have been five stars. All-in-all, a delightful, cozy and quiet (so-o-o very quiet for LA!) place to stay while in the LA area.
Owner Response
So glad the guest appreciated this cottage. I had not thought of these cooking items but they seem like a great idea and I will definitely add them to the cottage. I don't believe the stairs are steeper than regular stairs but you will get your exercise, and for a reward, the feeling like you are in a tree house, private and breezy with screens and screen door. As for the condiments, I do agree it would be nice to have basics and we do normally leave any that are left behind if they are not something that can spoil or be a health hazard, however, we are not able to restock, as I put in the instructions. Thanks to my guest for giving me some excellent pointers.
I stayed for a week with my husband and my parents in this cottage. We were in town to visit my brother and it was exactly what we needed in terms of lodging. Clean, comfortable, quiet and in a great location. The price absolutely cannot be beat. Thank you, Evelyn!
We were thrilled to stay in this spacious, well appointed home with every creature comfort in its quiet neighborhood, surrounded by lovely homes and gardens. After a long-haul flight across the Pacific we couldn't have asked for a better introduction to Los Angeles. The decor is extremely tasteful, with many personal touches and luxuries. There is also an impressive number of very good shops, restaurants and markets nearby. The owner made the booking process and access very efficient and easy. Overall, the cottage and its garden offer great value for the high standard of accommodation offered. Lastly, the abundance of safe street parking was a real bonus. I hope we can stay again on future visits.
This is a great 2 bedroom unit. Only drawback is it has only one bathroom. Full kitchen and comfortable living room. Although in a residential area, very close to to all you need from Montana Ave. in Santa Monica to Wilshire Blvd.
Owner Response
I am so glad the guest appreciated the cottage. The back entrance is really a bonus, as it's private and not going through the front property to get to this guest house. Wish there were a place for a 2nd bath but then it would be much more $$$ :)
A lovely place to stay while we were in LA. So close to everything and a beautiful neighbourhood. Spotlessly clean and tidy with quality linen. An oasis in a busy city. Would love to stay again. Thanks Evelyn.
My husband and I stayed for two nights during my bday weekend. The cottage was very clean and perfectly cozy. It's in a very nice quiet neighborhood. We look forward to staying again during our next trip to the LA area. Thank you Evelyn for sharing your beautiful cottage.
This was our second time here and we would definitely come back again. The location is perfect-just short drives to the beaches and LA proper. The cottage itself is wonderful-clean and well decorated- and the owner is attentive and responsive to all your needs. Really a great spot. The Lowells
Our 2-week stay was very enjoyable. The bedrooms, living room, and kitchen are all a good size, and everything works well and comfortably. Our only small request would be for more small towels and more small plates.
My friend and I stayed here for some training while in LA. We really wanted a safe, cozy place where we could come after a long day of training. Evelyn was wonderful and we couldn't be more pleased. You made our trip! Thank you!
My wife and I and our 2.5yr old daughter stayed at the cottage for 14 nights in November. It was exactly as described only better! What a gem, great location only 10 mins and your on the Santa Monica pier! Plenty of great shops all around and only a 10 minute stroll to Wilshire Blvd and Ralph's. Evelyn was an absolute pleasure to work with and very responsive to emails and is a true professional and made everything extremely easy. The cottage itself was fantastic, spacious, and also has an extremely cozy living room, which we just chilled in and watched tv on a tv which we could actually understand! Which is refreshing compared to some properties we've stayed in! 2 good sized bedrooms, bed was very comfy, kitchen had everything and more you could possibly need and the enclosed garden was an added bonus. Parking was an absolute breeze and we never had any problems. Our only slight criticism was that the property although clean could do with a good going over although you could say that about hotels, and this property is a busy one as it's almost always booked! To sum up, a great, safe location, spacious, convenient property, 1st class booking process and we are going back next year, enough said!!
Owner Response
What a great review! Thanks so much. I am planning doing a refreshing as soon as I have a gap in January 2017. I am so grateful to have more guests seeking this cottage than days available and to be able to offer this cottage at a great rate!
Many thanks for letting us spend 5 glorious days in your wonderful cottage. We were 4 adults and the cottage worked great for us, being close to Hollywood and universal, also Santa Monica beach which is 10 minutes or so away. Many shops and restaurants are also near by as is a couple of supermarkets. Many thanks Evelyn. The Saunders family from London.
We love staying at this cottage near Brentwood Farm Market. It is also convenient to Santa Monica Pier. The cottage has a large kitchen, comfortable beds, and cozy atmosphere. The private patio and garden is an added bonus. Very clean and well maintained property. We will stay here whenever our plans include a trip to LA.
Just tucked off the avenue in a high quality neighbourhood, this unassuming entrance is gateway to a little haven of tranquility with all the facilities and amentities you would reasonably need. Great location with most everything you might need from groceries to coffee, breakfast to great dinners, beach and 3rd Street Promenade - all a maximum of 15 mins away. So much better than staying in a hotel. We loved it as a family and hope to return!
The place was easy to find and parking was a breeze. Although parking is on the street we felt our car was very safe and had absolutely no problems. The neighborhood is nice and quiet. The neighbors were friendly and spoke when we walked by (on our walks around the community). The cottage is like living in a treehouse but with much more room. The space is exactly how the pictures portrayed it but seemed larger when you walk in! All of the amenities were great and very useful. Our kids loved having wifi and cable tv to watch in the comfy living area. We didn't notice until our second beach visit but there were beach chairs and an umbrella under the back staircase for use at the beach which came in handy. Also, the cottage is really close to just about everything...stores, dining, beach, highways...you name it! We will definitely return and book again. Evelyn was amazing to work with and also had a speedy response time to messages! There's nothing she leaves out in her instructions, she was very thorough and it made everything so easy for us.
Once you are up the stairs and in the property, this is charming and comfortable. It's a quiet spot, with a lovely courtyard garden. The furnishings are very nice and everything works fine. Instructions, advice from the owner were just what we needed. The location worked perfectly for us to get to where we needed to be on the Westside. Thanks!
This is the second floor of a space (no one beneath) on the Santa Monica/Brentwood line. So you're in this cozy, neighborhood-y area, not far at all from downtown Santa Monica (our kids walked their way back easily). Or, you're close to the 405 and access to the Getty, UCLA, and heading into downtown LA. Lovely space, ready to move into immediately. We'd return, without a doubt.
We look forward to our trip every year and LOVE this cottage. As a former Los Angelino this location cannot be beat. Terrific neighborhood, nestled between Santa Monica and Brentwood. Walk to markets, coffee shops, etc. The best!!! The cottage is well appointed and beautifully decorated. Truly charming and comfortable. Thank you for another wonderful stay!
The cottage is located about a 20 minute walk/5 minute drive to the Brentwood Country Mart shopping district and also from the shopping district further up on San Vincente Blvd.where the Whole Foods and many stores and restaurants are. It's about a 15 minute drive to Santa Monica, Pacific Palisades and Malibu and half hour into downtown LA/West Hollywood. The cottage itself is bright, clean and nicely decorated. It has good sized kitchen, den and bedrooms-plenty of space for 2-4 people. There easy on street parking. We loved our stay there and hope to be back soon.
My boyfriend and I just stayed at this beautiful cottage home in Brentwood. The photos of the cottage are accurate - except it felt larger than I expected! Everything was neat and clean and so charming. Entrance is up some steps through the back door into the kitchen. You can open up the front door which overlooks a patio and let the sunlight pour in. We did not want to leave! The cottage is very near the border of Santa Monica and we were able to walk down Montana Ave into Santa Monica to the restaurant where we met family for dinner. We also went to the farmer's market on Sunday which was a few blocks away and and to the Getty Museum which was amazing (about 15 minutes away). it was great fun to pretend we were locals. This cottage was an incredible deal in this town of ridiculously priced hotels. Communication and booking with Evelyn was simple and organized. We will be back.
Great apartment in Brentwood. Immaculate, well stocked and very comfy furnishings !! The bus line is a block away and it is close to Wilshire Blvd. We have stayed here a few times and it never disappointments. Thanks Evelyn
We arrived the end of July to such a cute little cottage. Myself, my best friend and our 16 year old daughters for a Sweet Sixteen vacation! Plenty of room for the 4 of us and the weather was breathtaking! The home is located in a very upscale, safe area and a close walking distance San Vincente Blvd where you can find cafes, coffee, restaurants, Whole Foods. The house is very equipped with everything you'll need including a fully stocked kitchen, blow dryer, toilet paper, paper towels and body wash. There is just 1 air conditioning unit in one of the bedrooms but for us not a problem since it got down in the upper 60's at night and we were gone most of the day. The ceiling fans are helpful as well. I would highly suggest renting this home, such a great price and so much nicer then staying in a hotel! Thank you Evelyn for sharing your home! It was a wonderful Sweet 16 for my daughter!
Quiet, "sound proof" because totally of wood, wonderful very well furnished cottage in a quiet residential area near the Wilshire Blv and 5 Miles to the Beaches. We immediately felt at home. It really is a little gem at very good price. Thank you Evelyn. We liked it very well!
We rented the cottage for nine nights in June. Everything was perfect for our needs. It was located just where we wanted to be and there was plenty of space for our family of four. Very minor maintenance issue with the bathtub. I emailed in the morning, we left for the day and it was fixed before we even made it back. Excellent response and communication in general. There were fresh flowers on the table when we arrived, which my wife really loved. Great proximity to anything you could want, from the beach, to restaurants to grocery stores. Nice welcome booklet with suggestions and info about the area and free wi-fi. Overall we just had a really nice time and would definitely rent here again.
This is the second cottage we have stayed at that Evelyn owns in Santa Monica and we loved it. The accommodation is spacious and furnished lovely. Lovely outside area to sit and have a drink on a evening, brilliant location in a lovely neighbourhood. Im sure we will be back.
My husband & I stayed at this lovely cottage over Thanksgiving! It could not have worked out better. It was within walking distance of our grown children & grand daughter! We prepared a large Thanksgiving meal for 6 in the well stocked kitchen and had our meal outside on the lovely patio! We also enjoyed walking on the close by path & the guys enjoyed watching some football in the family room which was large enough for all of us! We will definetly try to return if it is ever available again when we are planning a trip back.
The cottage is just as pictured. It was immaculate, well stocked with kitchen necessities and comfy furniture. The beds were also very comfy and there are reading lights on each side of the bed The outdoor space is private and lovely It is a great apt in a great location We will be back !! Thanks Evelyn
I am writing this review reluctantly as once people discover this little gem there may never be a vacancy again !! Sob.. Brentwood is a lovely area close to Santa Monica. The Cottage was gorgeous and the owner had thought of everthing. It was those little touches that made our stay so special. The owner was extremely accommodating and met all of our needs no matter how small and trival. When I return to LA I will be returning to one of the cottages and I will be recommending it to all my friends as well. Brilliant.
This cottage is a comfortable, well appointed, tasteful home from home. Great base to explore Los Angeles. It is on the border of Santa Monica/Brentwood and we really enjoyed exploring both of these great areas. We are a family with two teenagers and this was a lovely relaxing base which we highly recommend in an extremely quiet residential area. Plaudits to the owner for providing all we needed as it is one of the best equipped houses we have stayed in. Often there is a compromise to be had or the rental property never is as good as its description or photos but neither is the case here. while you are here go to the Paramount Tour, it is so interesting and exceeded all our expectations. Also don't miss the Getty, fabulous architecture, landscaping and gardens. Rent bikes from Sea Mist Rentals, cycle to Albert Kinney Blvd in Venice and eat at Gjelina- delic!
Excellent accommodation, cosily decorated and furnished in Santa Monica. We stayed for 5 nights and Evelyn, the owner, was extremely helpful and emailed us with information of local events and answered all our queries promptly. We would love to return for a longer break!
We stayed for 5 nights and loved this cottage! It is stylishly and comfortably furnished and Evelyn, the owner, answered all our queries promptly and recommended local events for us. We would definitely return.
This lovely two-bedroom cottage is a real find. It is very well located, with easy access to Santa Monica and Venice, but also a quick trip to freeways. There's a Whole Foods less than five minutes away, an amazing farmers market within 3 blocks and great road running around the periphery of the Brentwood Country Club, which again is only a few blocks from home. The cottage is really well appointed, with a beautiful sitting room with a very large TV and a gas fireplace. It's very homey and comfortable. The kitchen is very well stocked, so no problem eating in if that's your preference. It also has a seemingly brand new washer/dryer. The queen bed was very comfortable, and my two children had no complaints about their twin beds. The area is very quiet if noise is a concern. All in all, we loved our stay and would definitely return the next time we're in LA.
We spent a week in July in this cottage. It was a lovely place to stay, very quiet and convenient to visit Los Angeles. It is located in a very attractive neighborhood. The property was very clean and well equipped with dishes, towels and so on.
This totally charming cottage was the highlight of our driving trip from San Francisco to LA and back along Highway 1. We wished we could have stayed longer and spent more time exploring Santa Monica. It was a lovely place to stay - peaceful, as elegant as its photographs, wonderfully located. I had as much fun exploring the immediate area as I did spending time at the ocean, going to museums or hanging out in Rodeo Drive.
the cottage is very nice and well furnished. location is perfect for one week stay in LA area. Beds are comfortable, everything we needed was provided. It was an ideal place to stay for a family of 4. The owner was very helpfull in providing practical information. A place to recomment
My friend & I stayed here for a 2-wk girls-holiday from England in Feb 2012 & LOVED it. It’s a gorgeous holiday cottage, full of everything you could need & in such a good location. We were 10mins walk from grocery stores, restaurants & cafes & a short drive took you to the main roads & freeways to anywhere a tourist would want to go. The roadside parking near the cottage was easy & we felt really safe in the neighbourhood. We felt really safe everywhere except on the Walk of Fame, which was just as seedy as Evelyn warned us it would be in her ‘Welcome Book’. I think because we were staying in a proper neighbourhood that we loved the holiday cottage so much - we felt like we were living in LA, not just visitors. That isn’t something you can get from a hotel! During our travels we spotted most of the major hotels we were thinking of staying at & we don’t regret our choice to go for a holiday cottage for a second; those hotels weren’t always in the best areas & we were glad of the space & facilities to get over the jetlag. Evelyn responded really quickly about every query & made things really easy. The photos are exactly what it looks like & it has a great, comfortable atmosphere too. Can’t recommend the holiday cottage & a LA holiday enough. We would return without hesitation. Go on…book it. TOP TIPS: • Whole Foods on San Vicente Blvd for groceries & celeb spotting • The Farmers Market on Gretna Green Way • Eat at Literati on Wilshire Blvd. • Walk around the neighborhood to nosey at the beautiful houses & people • Whale & dolphin watching • Paramount Studio tour (we spotted a Cheerio from Glee!) • Do lunch! Urth Caffee, Toast, The Farm of Beverly Hills, & 17th Street Café are yum • Shopping @ 3rd St Promenade • The Original Farmers Market • Cycle Venice to Santa Monica • Disneyland (& wear Minnie Mouse ears all day) • Check the ‘special offers’ on discoverlosangeles.com • The Black Book & Lonely Planet apps (not the Santa Monica & Wallpaper ones) • Yes girls, your UK GHDs will work with just a plug adaptor & the hairdryer provided is pretty good • How ever long Google tells you it will take to drive somewhere, double it & add some more • Visiting in February? It’ll be warm one day, cold the next – we lived in jeans, layers & converse & it covered all situations • Order a small or half portion of food, it’ll still be UK-large • Use the wi-fi in the cottage - there’s not many free wi-fi spots elsewhere
We loved this place! Clean and nicely appointed with all the basics and more. It's very conveniently located. Both the 405 and 10 are just a few miles away The beach and great restaurants at various price points are nearby. If you have kids, Douglas Park, about a half mile away, has a fantastic playground. Parking was never an issue. My husband and I were traveling with our two young children, ages 1 and 3, and this quiet little place worked well for us. We brought a pack n play with us for the little one, and our older son slept well in the twin bed. The queen bed was great - a nice, firm matress with nice bedding.
This apartment was exactly as described in the listing. It was clean, comfortable, and very conveniently located. The beds were comfortable, there was an ample supply of towels, wash clothes, paper products, dishes, glassware and cutlery, and the appliances were relatively new and in good working order. Ms. Kelly was very accommodating when we were making the rental arrangements. The apartment is located close to some very good restaurants on San Vicente Blvd. and there is easy access to I-405 to get to the Getty Museum. We would definitely recommend this apartment to friends, relatives or anyone interested. We are hoping to come back this coming June.
We recently came home from a two-week stay in L.A and this lovely cottage. It was clean and nicely decorated. The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen had all the necessary equipment. The area is very quiet and beautiful but it is still walking distance (or a very short drive) to shops, cafés and restaurants. We had our son with us and the cottage works perfectly with small children if you don't mind the stairs leading up to the front door. The owner replied quickly to our e-mails when we had questions, she was helpful in every way possible. If we come back to L.A, we would like to live here again.
We loved our time in the Brentwood Cottage. The location is quiet but convenient: walking distance to plenty - a rarity in LA. The furnishings are very tasteful, kitchen well equipped, everything was in immaculate condition, and all the little extras were thought of. We wanted for nothing staying for a week with a baby. The owner was responsive and helpful in our dealings. Thank you Evelyn!
My wife, daughter and I recently visited L.A. for 8 days and we chose this vacation home for our stay. It was a wonderful cottage and a true home away from home. The furnishings are lovely and it was well appointed with everything from the towels to soaps and tea in the cupboard. There is a quiet patio in back with a BBQ grill and trees to provide shade from the sun (but you can sit in the sun if you'd like). If you want to watch some TV there's a nice 46 inch Sony LCD. Bedrooms are very nice, beds are comfortable, bathroom was clean. The location is also ideal - I used to live in L.A. so I know the area well, and this is a great location. There are many cafes, shops and restaurants nearby on Wilshire Blvd. or in Brentwood village. Much of this is within walking distance. There's a great farmer's market nearby on Sundays, and if you want to exercise you can take a jog around the country club about 1 block away. If this isn't enough, it's just a short drive to 3rd St. Promenade in Santa Monica (MANY more shops and sights to see) or a fabulous outdoor shopping mall in Century City. I cannot say enough about the location. Parking was very easy on the Street, and we never had a problem finding a spot close by. On the first day I had one small question about the TV so I emailed the owner. I received a reply within the hour. I don't think it gets much better than that. This is an ideal home to stay and I hope to return here again on my next visit. 5 stars all the way and very highly recommended!!
Our family of three (two teen-agers and one adult) stayed at this two-bedroom location in mid-February, 2011. The home was as advertised and very nice. As others have stated, the bed linens were very comfortable and the towels plush. The home was clean and cared for. We really enjoyed staying here. The only negative I had was that I had asked via email beforehand if there was heat and the owner indicated there was. As it turned out, the heat was not your traditional central gas, oil or electric heat but instead the owner had a small space heater in each of the two bedrooms, both of which only blew cold air, no matter how long they had been running. The living room gas fireplace did provide some heat for the living room but that heat did not spread to the bedrooms/kitchen/bathroom, and I did not feel comfortable leaving the fireplace running overnight. It dropped to the mid-40s each night while we were there. The home would get very chilly at night and would be "see your breath" cold in the morning when we got up. The owner definitely needs to provide space heaters for each room if guests are staying during the "winter" months. For this reason alone I dropped my rating from 5 to 4 stars. If multiple space heaters were provided, the place would be a perfect place to stay for up to four people and I would recommend it highly. BTW, there was no garage parking offered but it was not a problem to park on the street each night.
Owner Response
Hi, This is the owner...I had no idea the heat was not working until the next guests arrived. The pilot light had just gone out on the heating system. I had never had a complaint before and didn't know there was a problem. The next guest that checked in let me know immediately that the heater wasn't working. I feel so bad that a renter wasn't cozy and comfortable in my cottage. I can assure any future renter that there is heat and should there be a problem and I know about it, I compensate the traveler for their inconvenience and make repairs immediately.
This 2 bedroom guest house in Brentwood turned out to be probably one of my best decisions I've made in all the trips I've ever been on to California. I think hotels are out of the question from now on when we go back there. Everything about this well kept guest house was perfect, it was spotlessly clean, cosy, well maintained, beautiful furniture and decor and the beds were comfortable too. You couldn't ask for more it had all your home creature comforts except for a potato peeler! ha ha ha ;-) We really did feel like we were at home and home is the terminology we referred to it as whenever we were going back to it after a day out. Four of us stayed there, four newlyweds! Got married in Vegas and spent a perfect week at this cottage. We hired a car and it was great to have a garage to park it in underneath it It's a perfect location too, we used the car, however if you do not hire or have a car there's plenty of buses that take you to Santa Monica and in the other direction too, Beverley Hills and Hollywood. The owner recommended a trip to the farmers market just off Montana which turned out to be great for fresh produce. We loved the garden at the back with limes and lemons growing on trees and we enjoyed sitting out there with our breakfast in the sun, took my laptop too and had a few chats on skype via the free wireless connection. I could have quite happily stayed at the cottage forever and I will most definitely recommend this location to any traveler to the area. The owner Evelyn was very helpful and very friendly too, she made us feel very welcome indeed. There's plenty to see and do in the area, you will not go far wrong with renting this home. It really is fantastic, in fact perfect!
We had a great time in this cottage .the location was central very near to ocean boulevard . Easy to travel to LA hollywood and Beverley Hills. The cottage was very clean cosy comfortable in a nice area . We appreciated the nice soaps clean towels and great bedding in the rooms .The terrace was pretty ,quiet and very nice . This is a gem of a place !!! We had a wonderful time .Thanks to the owner ! Michele and family
A really lovely stylish cottage. Very clean and homely, the beds were very comfortable. The patio area was also quite large and the grill came in handy. My family and I all really enjoyed our stay at this cottage and would recommend it.
What a gem! Our stay was perfect and the cottage is even better in person. The owner is has put in many thoughtful and well-appointed touches. On arrival, the rental is spotlessly clean and welcoming. Everything you need is there - all the furniture, housewares, linens, and toiletries are of taste and quality. The location is really convenient and the neighborhood friendly, quiet, and beautiful. Highly recommended!!
My husband and our little boy LOVED this cottage. It was very comfortable, we had plenty of room. It was beautifully decorated with thoughtful touches - fancy soaps, luxury linens, a gas fireplace (with remote control!)... The location was supurb. It's walking distance from restaurants and an easy drive to Santa Monica, Venice, West Hollywood, Beverly Hills and other fun areas. Don't miss the Brentwood Farmers' Market on Sunday morning/early afternoon. It's just two blocks from the cottage and we were blown away by all the amazing local produce, flowers, cheese, homemade tamales, etc. There's a bbq on the patio - we bought fresh veggies and fish to grill - it was so much fun. We met the owner briefly and she's lovely.
The cottage was even better than expected. It felt like home. The cottage was spotless and had absolutely everything we needed and the location could not have been better. It also had a nice large patio with a great barbeque for grilling. The owner of the property was the best! Going forward, this is the only place my husband and I will stay. We highly recommend this property. We loved it!
I give this place a 12 out of 10. Remarkable. Beautifully appointed, sparkling clean, wonderful outside patio with a new weber. The owner has added all of the right touches to make your stay comfortable. Wonderful neighborhood, plenty of parking. I'm going to keep coming back as I do business in LA a lot.....although this place books fast.
