This was the perfect place for us. It was small but had everything that we needed. There was plenty of space to put our clothes and luggage away for the duration of our stay. The bed was very comfortable. It is in a great location for restaurants, coffee shops, etc. We were in Brentwood for our grandson's first birthday. We were especially please that we were a 10 minute walk from them! I definitely recommend!
Nice. Very small, but nice. Wish some coffee (even a jar of instant) and tea were provided. Appreciated the garage parking.
I'm so sorry that you didn't find coffee or tea. I do have info on the pre check in instructions that these particular amenities are not provided but are sometimes left behind by the previous guests.
Nice neighborhood with lots of parking. Property was clean and comfortable. We had one small problem with the sink in the bathroom and it was fixed the same day. My daughter and I had plenty of activities planned and basically needed a comfortable place to sleep and shower. This property was like a smaller version of home. Perfect for one or two people!
My husband and I stayed here for 5 nights for our Anniversary. We really liked the area it was easy to get to all of the places we wanted to visit. The place is not big, but it is great for people who don’t plan to be inside of it the entire time! It was clean when we arrived and everything seemed to be in working condition. We would stay again!
What a lovely and cozy cottage in a good central location accessible to everything. Busy vacation days and coming home to this sweet hide-a-way was restful and welcoming. Evelyn thinks of everything to make your stay enjoyable! I look forward to visiting again. Thanks Evelyn for sharing this part of your beautiful home!
We were actually surprised that we could be comfortable in such a small space, but it really worked for us. The cottage is very well located and parking is a breeze. It was very clean and well equipped. The communication with the owner was very easy and she was very responsive to questions. We will definitely try to rent it on a future visit.
It was in a perfect location for us because it is on the edge of Brentwood and Santa Monica. It was also a great price when comparing hotels in Santa Monica or Brentwood. The neighborhood is quiet and residential but only blocks away from San Vincente and coffee shops. It was cozy (felt like you had your own little secret garden) and self sufficient with the small kitchen. The bed was very comfortable. We are hoping it will be available the next time we visit our daughter.
My daughter and I were in town for 5 days on vacation and we loved our stay in the guesthouse. The location was great, it was only 20-30 minutes from any of the places that we had planned to visit and it was convenient and easy to get to the major highways. The guesthouse itself had everything we needed including a small kitchen and a very private backyard sitting area. The guesthouse came with use of a garage but we discovered that there was always parking available on the street so we didn't use the garage. I discovered that there was access to a washer and dryer in the garage on the last day so that would be great for longer stays. We did arrive late so it was harder to find the unit at night as you access it through the alleyway were the garage is located but once located the motion sensor lights turned on. I would advise locating the main house first so that you have an idea of where the back of the house entry is located in the alley. We would definitely stay here again and will recommend to anyone looking for a place to stay when they are in LA.
This was a great choice for me. Centrally located, tastefully decorated, private and comfortable. The only issue was a very noisy water heater that sounded like thunder when I showered. Once I got over that it was fine. It’s quite small and probably only appropriate for one person, though two could squeeze I suppose. All in all though, a great and economical choice!
Hot water heater has been fixed! No more noise.
this cottage lived up to everything I had wanted it to be! Super convenient location and had a cute backyard that was great for just relaxing. I would recommend this property! Evelyn was friendly and easy to work with
When I first arrived, on a very delayed flight from the east coast, I was a bit hesitant. I walked up to the gate and couldn't see to unlatch the lock. So took out my phone and used the flashlight, trying my best not to disturb other residents. As I opened the gate, a motion-sensitive light came on, welcoming me to my home away from home and settling any nerves I still had. The cottage is in a fantastic neighborhood. I was in town for a conference, so I had to commute back and forth to the convention center. However, getting a Lyft or Uber was a breeze. In the morning and at night, I would walk about a mile or so to the local restaurants, taking the recommendations that Evelyn has thoughtfully bound in a nice book located in the top dresser drawer. Even though I traveled alone, I felt at ease walking down the sidewalks early in the morning and at night. Everyone was so friendly, walking their dogs, children, or sometimes both. Also, there is much to be said about the nice landscaping and how great the flowers smell! The cottage itself was just as it has been previously described in other reviews. Everything is immaculate. I would recommend bringing slippers or socks in the winter months, as the tile flooring can get a bit cold on bare feet. Evelyn has thought of everything, right down to the bathrobe in the closet. Whole Foods is just a short walk away, so I was able to stock the place with plenty of breakfast foods and snacks. (If you want to cook, there are many dishes in the cabinets.) The only regret I have is not taking advantage of the patio. I had every intention of enjoying a nice cup of tea and a book out there, but there was just so much to see in L.A. that I was too tuckered out at the end of the day. (That is where the comfy bed and DirectTV came in handy.) I will definitely choose this Brentwood getaway the next time I am in L.A.!
Everything about my stay was perfect! Check in and out was seamless. The location was exactly as described. I had one small problem and it was addressed immediately. The cottage was completely cleaned, and the pictures are exactly as the cottage appears. I will definitely request it for my next visit to LA and have already recommended it to my friends.
In on Friday late and out on Sunday late. Clean, nice linens, QUIET. Only issue was couldn't get the heat to work and it was a bit cold but didn't care enough to bother Evelyn. The garage was nice to have too! Would stay there again for sure.
I am never bothered by my guests and wished I had been called! There is a really good heating AC unit in the cottage. I could have directed the guests to the instruction page in the dresser. Thanks to my guest for being considerate though!
The cottage was perfect for me. It was sparkling clean. The bed was very comfortable and there was plenty of storage for all that I needed for my month’s stay. The kitchen is tiny but was adequate for my needs. I enjoyed the patio a great deal. It is a lovely outdoor space. The garage and laundry facilities were an unexpected bonus. Actually, I enjoyed every minute I was there. The location for me was perfect. It is very close to several dear friends and I walked down Montana Ave. many mornings. Some days I walked all the way to the beach. Could not have asked for a better place to spend my January.
Kelly was wonderful. It is a charming studio apartment in a lovely neighborhood. It has a quaint patio perfect for your morning coffee or an evening drink. It is located within walking distance of several stores and the local farmer's market. It offers easy access to the major highways. It was perfect for my needs. I would definitely stay here again!
This was the perfect place for me to stay while I had business at UCLA. The unit has many electrical outlets, wi-fi, large HD TV with many channels and includes a private garage,.I didn't open the top drawer of the dresser until I was leaving but it includes useful information about the neighborhood, a TV channel listing, and a couple of books.
This is our second stay at this cottage. We again enjoyed it very much. It is comfortable, quiet, and has all the amenities one could hope for. The bed is very comfy. The only issue we had was with the coffeepot, which we figured out we weren't operating properly- the coffee spilled out on the countertop. There weren't any paper filters, and it seemed the filter basket wasn't the correct fit for the pot. In any case, we were able to brew our coffee without any problems once we figured out proper use. All in all, this is a great place to stay for the price.
I cannot express enough how lovely this place is! Perfectly sized for us, all the accommodations necessary, walking distance to everything, and just an overall perfect experience. From the moment we walked in, I knew we were home. Not only was it adorable, it was simple, yet accommodating. The ammenities are perfect, including a small refrigerator/freezer, great little air conditioning system, lots of blankets, pillows, and the bed is super comfortable. A coffee pot, cute dishes, wine glasses, a dresser for foldables, and hangers for all the necessary clothes hangs. The bathroom shower was comfortable, and there were towels, washcloths, a robe, etc. The patio is the perfect size for a few cocktails in the evening, and the trees are a great addition for shade if you want to hang out on an afternoon. On Sunday there is the best Farmers Market within walking distance (try the gyros, they don't disappoint!), and if you're looking for cute and fresh flowers this is the place! Vegetable selection is on point! I can't say enough about this amazing place and we will definitely be back next year!! Oh...don't park on the street on Friday early morning, as you will get a ticket due to street cleaning ;). I would give this place ten stars if I could!! Thank you, Evelyn for making our stay a memory we will never forget!!!
The Cottage is exactly what we were looking for. Fantastic location and very very private and quiet. Literally an Oasis in the heart of the city. I would highly recommend this VRBO for anyone who needs or wants a place that feels like home and is sparkling clean. Thanks Evelyn!
This was my fifth stay. I love this cottage. Private patio and convenient location. A few things are showing signs of wear but , if you can ignore those, this studio is perfect.
I'll soon be upgrading and refreshing, but in the meantime, I've kept the rates the same for the last few years. After refresh, rates will go up! I love being able to provide affordable accommodations in an area where average hotels rates are $600 + a night!! Yikes!
I was on my own when I stayed in the beautifully maintained Studio home, but it will easily accommodate two people (but no more). There is a closed garage which I appreciated so that my car was not parked on the street and was secure. There even was a small private patio. It was very quiet. The studio is the first floor of a 2-story Guest House, and has everything you need for a quiet get-away. There is a small fridge which was perfect to store drinks and breakfast items but I enjoyed the near by restaurants on San Vincente, rather than cooking (but there is a stove and microwave). I used the air conditioner because I like it very cool, but even without the A/C it was quite cool in the evenings. Everything was provided (soap, hair dryer, plenty of towels, cable TV with all the channels and movies you needed, dishes, utensils etc.) and in great condition. I would stay again if I was in the area.
A perfectly charming place for us to stay as we were visiting our daughter & grandchildren in Santa Monica. Very clean and had everything you needed, as far as supplies. Loved being able to make coffee in the morning!! Great to be able to wash clothes, also!! There was always parking available on the street, which was good, because although there is a garage included, we always arrived too late to open the noisy garage door, which I'm sure would have irritated any neighbors, which, by the way, we never saw.
Comfy bed, love the amenities, washer/dryer. Step up into bathroom tough to remember, could use nightlight for safety. Would have loved a fan. Screened Dutch door lovely perk.
Thanks so much for your review. Although this cottage has AC, I would gladly have had a fan delivered, along with a night light. I value my guest's opinion on needed amenities as they experience the season and let me know their needs.
We very much enjoyed our stay at the cottage guest house. Tucked into a quiet spot, it afforded us the essentials for a perfect stay!! The bed was comfortable. The kitchen had everything we needed. And it was cute and charming. The area is very safe and quiet. We were able to come and go everywhere easily. We would definitely stay again!
I stayed in this little studio apartment for three nights while working in my company's Los Angeles office. It is in a great neighborhood. I was able to walk to offices on Wilshire Blvd as well as to restaurants, grocery stores, and even to get a massage. The room was very clean and had a nice private courtyard for sitting outside--once it cooled down. Private garage parking is a rare treat in a vacation rental like this. Although I wouldn't stay here if I wanted to sit around and lounge inside, it is perfect for an individual or couple who will be out and about exploring the area or working most of the day. The kitchenette is fine for making a simple meals if you're too tired after a full day.
This is a wonderful little studio in a great location! I was visiting my son at UCLA which is nearby while also having the advantage of being close to the shops and restaurants along Montana Ave. in Santa Monica. I really appreciated the garage parking. The bed is very comfy with lovely linens. The studio has limited natural lighting but a nice patio which got some morning sun which I enjoyed. I would stay here again!
Over the years, I have stayed at several of Evelyn's cottages in Santa Monica and West Los Angeles. Each one has had her wonderful design and her personal thoughtful touches both inside and outside. This particular studio has a rare small private patio which is a very nice extension of the studio itself. The studio has lots of light but still feels private, comfortable bed and linens, soft fluffy towels, organized kitchenette and dining spot, and comes with a garage which provides the use of washer and dryer. Can't imagine there is a better studio or location out there. I hope it is available when I want to come back.
We stayed at the Cottage for a month to have time with our grandsons. The location was perfect for us and although the cottage is a studio, we were comfortable and did quite a bit of cooking. Evelyn is a gracious host and was very responsive to our needs. We look forward to staying there again when we visit our family.
Very nicely decorated, very clean. All necessary appliances available. Close to Santa Monica attractions, as well as to Los Angeles / Beverly Hills. Recommendation: a corkscrew and a can opener would add even more value to the little kitchen. Otherwise - PERFECT!!! Thanks a lot and I hope to be your guest again in the future.
Thanks so much for this wonderful review. I had no idea the kitchen was missing the corkscrew and can opener, 2 vital items! These have now been added. Thanks so much to this reviewer to let me know.
The Charming Cottage Guest House was the perfect place to stay while visiting friends and family for the week of Thanksgiving. We love staying in a neighborhood, and this fit the bill. This place is about 3 miles from Santa Monica Pier, but if the ocean isn't your focus (and it wasn't ours), then this is a great place. The Brentwood area is lovely, and within a 30 minute walk from the cottage we had lots of places to eat and shop. It is also fairly close to the 10 and the 405, making it easy to get to and from the airport. We spent much time in the Pacific Palisades area, which was extremely easy to access via this location. The "cottage" itself is not much bigger than a decent-sized hotel room, but it was perfect for our needs. We were out and about most days, and had access to Netflix and Amazon Prime shows when we wanted to relax late in the evening. We used the small kitchenette primarily to make breakfasts and a couple of lunches, and loved that we had a choice of either a traditional coffee pot or a French press. The queen sized bed was extremely comfortable and the shower most delightful. The weather cooperated and we were able to sit outside on the little patio a couple of times. We were pleased to have a garage for our rental car as well. The owner, Evelyn, provided excellent customer service: we were able to check in a bit earlier than the assigned time, and when the internet went out, she immediately made arrangements to get it fixed (within a day). We would definitely consider staying here again!
The cottage was just as advertised, everything was above average quality right down to the Kleenex! Beautiful neighborhood, loved the Sunday market just up the road. Though The Pier/3rd Ave was to long of a walk for us Uber was cheap and quick. Nice bed/towels, great TV and lots of hot water, even the cups/plates and glassware we're very nice. We used the beach chairs and umbrella, things you can't pack. Be sure to check out Brentwood Country Mart, we met Jennifer Garner there! Had great meals at Misfit's and R + D Kitchen, best carrot cake ever!
We were visiting our son in West LA. Perfect place for two. The cottage is very charming and quiet. Enjoyed having a private patio and a garage with laundry was a bonus. Evelyn was a great hostess, giving us detail by detail for checking in and leaving. Great little kitchenette to make breakfast and quick meals if needed. About 4 blocks from grocery stores and drugstores. Mass transit runs right past the cottage. Very clean and filled with all the amenities you need. We look forward to going back and staying !
Ms Kelly has an amazing talent for creating properties within a consistent theme. We appreciate how reliably we can make a reservation with her. This cottage had small square footage but with a remarkable sense of flow. We felt like we had a cabin onboard a luxury liner--but without the sway. We used the patio every day and appreciated the private garage.
The cottage is truly cosy, clean, and the host has thought of providing all amenities a guest would need. The only minor issue I have is that the kitchen sink is a bit small and not easy to wash anything bigger than a small plate. Without a car, it is not that near to walk to the nearest bus stop or market. But Uber greatly helps. Overall, I had a wonderful stay and would highly recommend this cottage.
So glad my guest had a great stay! FYI, the Big Blue Bus stop is right outside this cottage. Shopping and restaurants are a 15 min walk...Peet"s Coffee is 1/2 mile and Whole Foods is just over a mile...great if you like to walk, and if not, as guest suggest, Uber if great!
Great property, amazing location, relaxing, and fun. I used to live in West LA and know the area very well and was hoping the property was as advertised. It was EXACTLY as advertised! I wish I had more time and money to stay there longer. If you are here Sunday, definitely do the Brentwood Market up the street. It's THE place to be. Get a Belgian waffle for Monday/Tuesday's breakfast (ignore his complaining about ppl not stopping by his booth), fresh juice, cold pressed coffee, and a CheezePleez breakfast sandwich. Who knows, you may have a conversation with Henry Winkler like I did!!!! My family visited this lovely cottage and it has now become our annex when their house is full. Thank you for a lovely, relaxing time. Carol
We spent an entire week at Evelyn’s cottage and we were very pleased with our stay. The communication with Evelyn was prompt and timely and we were provided with all the essential information prior to our arrival. The guest house has everything necessary for a comfortable stay – Wi-Fi, cable TV, mini kitchen with a fridge, gas range oven, microwave, and coffee maker. The washer and dryer in the garage could also come handy for extended stay guests. There’s no direct heating in the bathroom but this should not be a problem during the warmer months of the year. We appreciated the privacy of the place. The house was very clean and well supplied with everything necessary. The location is convenient and close to groceries and bus stops. We would definitely recommend the property to family and friends for future trips to the area.
Thanks so much for your review! FYI, there was a small space heater in the hall closet and I'm so sorry this guest didn't find it. I have since put the space heater in the bathroom for the winter season.
Cottage was perfect for a quiet retreat Everything is provided plus more for one's comfort The location is excellent I really liked the private patio and access to washer and dryer Very easy check-in and check-out Only one negative...the floors and windowsills and woodwork need a good cleaning I would definitely stay here again! Thank you, Evelyn!
Thanks so much for the great review. And thanks for letting me know about the floors and windowsills. It's time for a deep cleaning and I have one scheduled for my next open date. Would love to have you back.
I really enjoyed my stay! The cottage is in a wonderful neighborhood, close to the supermarket, buses, and main streets. It was clean, well-maintained, and when I had a minor problem (such as the toilet getting jammed), it was taken care of immediately. I'd highly recommend this property to others!
We stayed in this little couy cottage for a week and had a perfect first time in Los Angeles. The cottage is located in Brentwood, which is a great and safe neighbourhood with good connection to Highways, to the beach and to do some shopping. The cottage itself has everything you need to feeling at home. Also the organisation in advanced and the nice contact with the owner made it really easy feel comfortable and to have a really great stay. We will come back!!
We loved this place! It was convenient to Santa Monica and Brentwood. The owner was so nice when she stopped by and was prompt in letting us know about availability, but was completely hands off once we arrived. The apt was tiny, but perfect for us with everything needed and so clean. The kitchen and direct tv + internet were appreciated as I was there to recover from surgery. The back alley is a tad noisy, but overall the location and price were so great, that it all evened out! Also, the garage parking for no extra fee + access to laundry were great! Would absolutely stay here again and highly recommended!
First of all, I'm from California and was returning home for the holidays but didn't want to couch surf with my parents. I found this little gem and it was like a little sanctuary. The place was charming and quiet. I even strung up some Christmas lights. I loved this place. The owner was amazing and responsive. I actually left my jewelry pouch there and she mailed it back to me...which I was deeply appreciative. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. The neighborhood was great and close to everything. Again since I am from Los Angeles I didn't need help getting around but I know Evelyn would have been available to assist me with anything.
This is plenty of space for one person and would work very well for 2. The garden is totally private and gives it another room. Evelyn, the owner was extremely helpful and reacted very quickly to any questions or concerns that I had. The location is FABULOUS. I needed to go to the Getty often, and that was an easy 15 minute drive; there is a great spot to run (around the golf course, 2 mi.) that starts a block away. Really, it couldn't have been better!
I needed a place to stay close to my daughter who lived in Santa Monica. This cottage is conveniently located and had all the conveniences of home. I enjoyed my morning coffee on the the small patio set in a very safe neighborhood. The bed was extremely comfortable, no morning backaches. Evelyn thought of everything one would need including a 'handbook' with helpful tips! I would definitely stay here again. Thank you Evelyn for your prompt service and lovely accommodations.
This place is absolutely lovely! In truth it would not be for everyone as it is a little on the small side, but the outside patio extends the living space and it is a wonderful quiet spot for morning coffee or to relax with a book and a glass of wine. Evelyn has done a wonderful job of making the space very workable, with lots of shelves, hangers and cupboards and she has thought of everything. All the comforts of home are there including lots of information about the area. We managed without a car and made good use of the Big Blue Bus. The neighbourhood is gorgeous!!! Loved the Brentwood Sunday market, so much to see and do. Would definitely return.
Clean and with everything we needed for our two weeks stay in Santa Monica. Had a little problem with the garage and the owner fixed it in less than 12h. We would totally recommend. Close to westwood village and UCLA university and 2 minutes drive to Santa Monica beach and commercial third street promenade.
We enjoyed the cottage very much. It was quiet, comfortable, and secluded. The owner was very gracious. It was close to shopping, grocery stores, restaurants, interesting places (like the Getty Museum), and other entertaining venues. I would highly recommend it.
The cottage is nice, clean, comfortable and has a great location. The description shown by the owner is really accurate as well as the pictures. Everything is prepared for your arrival and stay. We spent 3 nights at the cottage and we have a great experience. We for sure will be back!! Don´t expect a big place, but is ideal for spending some days. Thank you Evelyn!!
The cottage is very nice, comfortable, clean and has a great location. The description offered by the owner is accurate as well as the pictures. Don´t expect a big place. The cottage is small but really cute and ideal for spending some days! We spent there 3 nights and had a wonderful time. We´ll be back there for sure! Thank you Evelyn!
I have one word for this rental.PRECIOUS!!! I never thought you could convert a garage into a beautiful cottage like this was. It had everything you would need. It was secluded in a beautiful neighborhood near shopping.the major freeways. LA airport, eateries, the Pier and all the attractions in LA. It was the perfect location for our needs. It was spotless!! All we needed to do was buy some food for breakfast, who wants to cook when your on vacation. We never met our host Evelyn, but we were confident that she was watching out for us. We arrived a few hours early due to us flying in from New York but that didn't seem to be a problem. I would definitely recommend this rental and anytime we visit this area we will stay here. You can't compare a home to a hotel and this was home. Thanks Evelyn!!:)
After a year, back to this lovely cottage, and again it was perfect. I don't hesitate to recommend this place, in a great neighborhood, with an optimum balance between price and comfort. Thank you very much, Evelyn. Next time, will bring you a new box of Argentinian "alfajores"....... Eduardo.
Magnificent & charming cozy tasteful touch on a small studio My daughter and I stayed during 5 nights. The street a Quit nice houses , safe area, The location is central between the beach /Santa Monica Board walk and Beverly Hills. When we entered to the back yard of the studio ,there was a great smell of the Jasmine tree there and a beautiful red flower tree as well. the place is well equip we had every thing we needed. Please pay attention for parking on the street as Friday & Thursdays are cleaning street days no parking 9:00am-12:00pm. ... We Enjoy our stay! and will defiantly come back! Eden & Kelly D. Gilad from NYC
What great guests! It gives me so much joy hearing from my guests. Thank you Eden and Kelly. FYI, there is plenty of street parking on Thurs and Fiday but cars must park on alternate sides each morning, clearing one side each morning. Good advise from my guests because although I alert guests to this in pre-arrival info and there is a sign in the cottage, it's good to hear from the guests reminding potential renters! Thanks again. Evelyn
There are not enough words to explain how perfect this property is. It was everything I wanted and more. The listing description was spot on although the pictures don't do the property justice - it is absolutely beautiful and had everything I needed for my 8 day stay. The property was very clean, bright and airy with plenty of additional towels, the kitchen was well equip and there was a spare hairdryer which saved me hauling my bulky thing over from the UK. It was so peaceful and relaxing sitting in the private patio area first thing with my coffee before the start of my day, something which is impossible in January in the UK. Another great feature is the free WiFi as coming from the UK I was unable to use any of the features of my Blackberry other than texts but was able to keep up to date with home when in the property thanks to this. I came back to the property each night well after dark but there are plenty of security lights outside the property and the neighbours were always around and very friendly and welcoming. The location of the property was perfect for what I needed. It is only a 12 minute drive into Santa Monica where the theatre was located, the shops and amenities are plentiful and reasonable and the Brentwood Golf Club was perfect for early morning/late afternoon strolls. The people in the area are very welcoming and helpful and although I was staying on my own, I never felt alone. The owner was extremely helpful, especially leading up to my arrival and it was very comforting to know she wasn't very far away if I needed her. I would definitely recommend this property to anyone and will not hesitate to rent this property again, whether by myself or with my husband. In fact the property is so comfortable and well equip I could actually have happily lived there for the rest of my life! Do not hesitate to rent this property....I guarantee you will not be disappointed. Thank you very much Evelyn - thank you.x
An Hidden Gem! I have been in Santa Monica several times and this was the most perfect stay I ever been. The house is small but very clean and it is incredible how well it waqs maintaied, every detail is simply perfect. The owner, Evelyn is just outstanding, she also left a Cake in the house for the Thanks Giving Day, amazing. The house is 2 mins away from bot the Sunset Blvd and the Santa Monica Blvd, ideal solution to reach everything in 10-15 mins. Close to Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Santa Monica Pier, 3rd Promenade and Montana Ave for shopping... Stop searching for an House to stay in the Santa Monica neighborhood, ths is the ideal solution! Hope to be back this year, but from Italy is pretty far away, let's see. Thanks Evelyn!
This is the place to stay in L.A. for 1 or 2 people. Excellent Location- close to everything esp. Santa Monica. The studio is very clean and in good condition. Just like the photos. Evelyn, the landlord is junst outstanding. If you have any concern she will take care of them . I found the patio to be very pleasant. I stayed for one week in 2010 and two weeks in 2011. I plan to go back again in 2012. I nice little kitchen to make meals with good shopping and resturants near by. Excellent customer service! Also, you can use the washer ande dryer which comes in handy. I am looking forward to my next visit next year.
I stayed here in Febuary. I arrived at the unit but no one was home to let me in. I did have to travel to find a WiFi Hot Spot as my phone and Netbook battery needed to be charged after a cross country flight. I checked in 1.5 hours after arrival. When I did get the unit, I found it too be very nice. Small patio out front, Great Coffee maker with assorted coffees from other peoples stay. The bed was very comfortable as was the linens. The thermastat and hot water where equally as nice. The TV Channels on the Directv where plentiful. I did find a few quirks that where annoying. No IPod docking station to play my music which I had brought. The wireless internet didn't work. The toilet overflowed the next morning and I had to use all the towels to soak up the water. I did notify the people that where left in charge and they did come fix the rooting problem that caused the toilet to overflow in the first place, but, was told by her son that I would have to wash the towels myself (while I was on vacation). This did annoy me. The neighborhood is great and there is a really nice Farmers Market up the road on Sundays. It is in a great location in Brentwood with Wilshire and Santa Monica Blvd several blocks over. Evelyn was a wonderful person to do business with. There is a book of recommended things to do that was very well put together. Several where on my bucket list, and found them to be quite entertaining! Even for the mishaps! I would stay here again just for the location!
This renter did not read the instructions I send to every renter prior to arrival regarding the entry. All of my renters are given detailed instructions regarding key location and how to access. I have never had a renter not follow them before. The is an iPod player in the bedside alarm clock, the lid must be lifted it, it's there. There is wifi and readily connected and I would have helped him with both iPod and wifi had he called. The toilet overflow was unfortunate and I have since had all the sewer lines rooted so this doesn't happen again. Normally I would have had clean towels for the renter but I was out of town and explained to the renter and asked if he would help. I felt really bad not being there and taking care of it. I was glad at least that there is a washer and dryer and detergent provided for the renter. If there is ever a problem I am happy to offer a fast solution and 90% of the time I am close by. I'm glad the renter was happy with most of the accommodation. For the low cost I feel my renters are getting a great value in a great location.
Excellent location that is an oasis of calm in the otherwise bustling city of LA. Located in an up-scale Brentwood location, close to all amenities and 10 minutes from the ocean - we're regular visitors to LA and this is the perfect location. The accommodation is exactly as described; good quality furnishings and all you need for a great stay. Satellite TV provides good entertainment while you cook meals in the kitchenette using the products from nearby Montana or Brentwood. Evelyn the owner is helpful and on hand if needed but not intrusive; just as it should be. GREAT location and accommodation - highly recommended.
This cottage was adorable and sparkling clean. My husband and I were very comfortable. We did a lot of sightseeing in Santa Monica, Venice, Beverly Hills, West Hollywood and surrounding areas and found this to be a very central location. It's in a very quiet, residential neighborhood and it was nice to get away from the hustle and bustle of L.A.
A very positive experience - cottage was exactly as described, no unpleasant surprises. Owner was a delight to work with - small issues dealt with quickly and professionally, owner respects your privacy and is not intrusive, very much appreciated. This guest cottage is just adjacent to the owner's property, but you still have your own outside area of substantial size to relax and enjoy. Lacks nothing, every small detail is there - just like (or better!) than being at home. Great location in gorgeous upscale Brentwood neighbourhood - very safe. Within quick and easy reach of Santa Monica, the 405 and surrounding sights. Supermarket and several restaurants catering to all budgets just a minute away. Very easy street parking, just pay attention to alternate street cleaning Thursday and Friday on Gorham. If you are planning a trip to West LA area for 2 and do not require an enormous rental, this cosy cottage represents fantastic value for money. In summary, highly recommended !!
